Islip Airport hit a new record high of 82 degrees on Tuesday. That beats the previous record of 77 set in 1979.
More warm weather is arriving on Wednesday before temperatures cool down. Wednesday will be sunny with highs in the low 70s. A cold front passes at night bringing in cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.
Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear with highs in the 60s through the start of the weekend. Lows will drop down into the 40s.
Expect dry weather across the stretch. The coolest day will be Sunday with a real fall feel and highs in the 50s before temperatures climb again for next week.
Be aware of fire weather danger in the coming days with drought conditions and the very dry ground with a little breeze developing.
